Pittsburgh, PA - November 25th, 2023: This holiday season, the Mt. Oliver and Allentown neighborhood business districts are bringing back the Passport to Allentown & Mt. Oliver program to showcase their community of small businesses on Small Business Saturday (November 25th) along with a joint Cookie Tour and ending the day at Mt. Oliver Borough’s Light Up Night.


Allentown & Mt. Oliver Cookie Tour: 1pm-4pm

The Cookie Tour Map

The 2023 Cookie Tour features over 35 businesses between the two districts! Taste cookies, shop small, and get a head start on your Passport to Allentown and Mt. Oliver! Shoppers will receive free cookies as they explore what small businesses in the Hilltop have to offer.

Welcome tables located at 819 E Warrington Ave and 150 Brownsville Rd.


 

Mt. Oliver Borough's 2023 Light Up Night


Light Up Night kicks off at 150 Brownsville Road at 4:00pm with live music by Caleb Smith and DJs from Tech25. Shop at the indoor Winter Artisan Market at 200 Brownsville Road with vendors offering handmade gifts. Food by Vocelli’s and beer from Inner Groove Brewing.


The Mt. Oliver Borough Christmas Tree at Light Up Night

Winter Artisan Market:

4:00pm-7:00pm

Santa Claus arrives: 4:30pm

Tree Lighting: 5:30pm.

Bake Off Competition: 6:00pm


“The community always enjoys Light Up Night and we are looking forward to the new festivities this year,” said Rick Hopkinson, Mt. Oliver Borough Manager.


For the first time, the Hilltop Economic Development Corporation will host a Bake Off competition! Sign up to join the competition here and bake on behalf of your favorite charity. During this season of giving, the winner will select the charity of their choice to receive a $500 donation! The judges include Talk Pittsburgh Chefs Alekka Sweeny and Jannet Loughran!

When Chef Alekka Sweeney is not trying new restaurants around the city she grew up in, her primary goal is to bring her 25+ years of Culinary and Pastry knowledge to the homes of those at all ages or cooking levels. You may recognize her by her red hair, glasses, bold cake tattoo, or all of the above. She is classically trained in French pastry from Le Cordon Bleu and has 15 + years teaching experience with various disciplines of baking.

Chef Janet Loughran, a regular contributor on KDKA's Talk Pittsburgh, has been a Chef for two decades. She loves sharing her cooking techniques on Instagram @chef.life.hacks. She was classically trained with an Associates Degree in Culinary Arts. She comes with two decades of experience in the restaurant and catering industries. Janet enjoys the freedom that private cheffing provides so that she can spend time with her husband and two young sons.




 

Passport Program to Allentown and Mt Oliver runs Nov 25th - March 1st. Learn more.

This year, there are 53 participating small businesses in the Passport Program, where shoppers can win gift cards by supporting local businesses. Shoppers are encouraged to explore the two unique business districts located within walking distance of each other. Between Allentown and Mt. Oliver Borough, there's something for everyone, from bars to fine dining, and shopping to services.

Look out for Passport Tour Days, where participating businesses will be offering promotions, deals, specials, and unique events to shoppers who stop by on that day with their passport.
