Making Homeownership Possible in the Hilltop

ree

845 Henger Street reflects the core mission of our Rehab for Resale program — restoring blighted and vacant houses in our Hilltop neighborhoods and transforming them into high-quality, energy-efficient homes for local families. Supported through the Urban Redevelopment Authority’s OwnPGH program, this project turned a long-vacant structure into a modern, affordable home that now contributes to the neighborhood’s stability and growth.

With OwnPGH’s backend support and multiple layered resources, the homebuyer received nearly $100,000 in down payment and closing cost assistance, making homeownership attainable for a low-to-moderate-income household. The rehabilitation emphasized long-term energy and efficiency improvements, including heavy insulation, reduced air leakage, and upgraded systems to help keep utility costs low and ensure lasting affordability.

We are grateful to our partners at the URA, PNC Bank, First Commonwealth Bank, EEE, and the Housing Authority of the City of Pittsburgh for their collaboration and commitment. Together, we continue to strengthen Hilltop neighborhoods by transforming vacant properties into homes and expanding access to sustainable homeownership.
